Acamar Solar
Project summary
Acamar Energy Project, LLC is proposing the Acamar Solar Project, a 125-megawatt dc (100-megawatt ac) solar facility on a portion of approximately 922 acres of privately-owned land in Union and Logan Counties, Ohio.
Note: The current “buildable area” is anticipated to be approximately 600 acres; and this smaller number accounts for things like setbacks, preservation of wetlands and wooded areas within the parcels, etc. The project acreage will continue to be refined during the due diligence process, as technical studies and the initial project design is completed.
Acamar Solar will provide a stable, long-term economic benefit to the area.
Economic benefits
The project is expected to pay approximately $700,000 – $900,000 into the tax base annually, and $24.5 - $31.5 million over the life of the project. These funds will provide new revenues for local school districts including Marysville Exempted Village and Benjamin Logan Local, Liberty Township, Union County, and Perry Township, Logan County, and more.
The project is expected to create over 100 direct jobs during peak construction and numerous indirect jobs. Detailed estimates of the direct and indirect jobs created by the project will be included in the OPSB application and project-specific Socioeconomic Report.
Health/visual concerns
There are no harmful pollutants or negative health impacts. Check out our FAQ section and read the NC State Clean Energy Technology Center report for more information.
Trees and bushes will be planted as a vegetative buffer to reduce views of the solar farm.
Environmental commitment
We plant perennial plants which increase soil stability, improve infiltration, and help promote biodiversity.
Solar energy reduces emissions and impacts from power generation as compared to more traditional power plants.
The energy generated at Acamar Solar will deliver power to the Honda Marysville Tap 69kV substation. The solar-powered electricity generated will deliver clean, renewable electricity to the Ohio bulk power transmission system to serve the needs of electric utilities and their customers.

Schedule
Acquisition of land and land rights began in 2019 with outreach conducted to landowners and community leaders throughout the Project vicinity.
In accordance with the Ohio Administrative Code, any person that wishes to construct a major utility facility or economically significant wind farm in this state must first submit an application to the Ohio Power Siting Board (OPSB) for a certificate of environmental compatibility and public need. State law defines a specific application process which includes several components: a description of the facility and its location, a variety of detailed environmental studies, a statement explaining the need for the facility and how it fits into the Applicant’s energy forecasts (for transmission projects), and any other information the Applicant or Board may consider relevant.
Prior to submitting the application, Acamar will hold a public information meeting to facilitate public interaction with the Applicant and expert consultants. Information will be presented regarding the Project’s location, size, and the supporting rationale; the types of studies and due diligence that will be conducted; the OPSB’s review and certification process; the expected timeline of the Project and construction process; and responses to any questions submitted by the public prior to the meeting.
Acamar Solar then anticipates submitting the application to the OPSB in the first quarter of 2022.
